You are correct. That is what he claimed his previous> commuting on form 2106 because he's on call. Right? accountant told him he could do. We didn't think so but we do try to verify these oddities that our clients come up with from time to time. We've had to prove to clients that what had been done in the past was wrong. Never forget the lady who told us that yes she could get EIC in spite of the fact that she and hubby filed separately. She knew she could get it because she had gotten it before. When she did her own returns. - quote - > And maybe you can find out what the previous tax preparer is

| We have a tax client who claims that they were told by their previous tax preparer that they "are exempt" from having commuting miles on unreimbursed employee expenses because he is on call 24/7. Neither of us recall *ever* hearing anything like this and couldn't find anything. Is he either full of it (or didn't understand the previous preparer correctly) or did his previous tax preparer tell him something that wasn't correct? Or is this something that is valid? Thanks Carol My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
