This scanner is on the assistant's workstation. In addition to that scanner, we also have HP multi-function machines on the desks. These are there ONLY for quick and convenient items - like when you need to copy a document the client can't let go of (we also do investment work and make a copy of drivers licenses). We have Alfa-Ricoh network printer to handle the printing. We use WinFaxPro for network faxing. I love being paperless (at least as paperless as we can be for now). Gene E. | I have two Fujitsu fi-4120Cs which work great. They scan a maximum of 25 pages per minute single sided and 50 pages per minute double sided. They have a very small footprint. I try to be a paperless office so I scan a lot. They are not cheap, each one cost me between $800 to $900. However, they are the best hardware investment I have made in a long time. The flatbed model is a fi-4220C which runs about $500 more. I have not really missed not having a flatbed. If there are pages that are in too bad a shape to go through the document feeder I just copy them first. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

For the few items I have that can not be scanned through the feeder I just copy them first. I think the flatbed version is an fi-4220C. I previously had the next cheaper one, but the software was horrible - they made it idiot-proof, meaning that I was not able to do things that I should have been able to. The 5200 eliminated the problem. I've had it for several years, and it's still working great. | We are looking to replace our Fujitsu 15C flatbed scanner with 15 ppm automatic document feeder. It's four years old, there are issues with the bulb and the feeder rollers. We've looked at the Fujitsu ScanSnap. No flatbed for items which won't go through the feeder (same problem with Visioneer). We're considering the HP ScanJet 8250, but I've heard some rumors of problems with HP scanners. We know we want a flatbed capable of up to 8.5x14 images. It has to have an automatic document scanner with a speed of about 15 ppm. Color capability is good. We can take USB or SCSI connections. Anyone have any recommendations? -- Bruce Davidson Cantor, CPA, JD Admitted in Colorado << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
