On the 1040 for the US and on whatever tax form the UK uses.

You take a foreign tax credit for UK taxes paid.

Nothing changes if you were here for 183 days. You're a US citizen. If
you're in the UK as a resident for 330 days out of any one year period you
can exclude a portion of the wages you receive from US income, roughly
$80,000. There are other possibilities as well but you would be wisely
served in obtaining the services of someone who works in this area.

Default Double Taxation US-UK

I am looking for some info regarding my complicated tax
situation... Any help is appreciated.

I am a US citizen, for most part of the year I have been
working in the US and in September I will move to the UK
where I will be working for a UK company (being paid in
Sterling in the UK) for 2 years and 3 months.

I have checked the double taxation treaty but it does not
clarify much to me...

Where do I have to pay taxes for my salary US, UK, both ?
Does this depend on the amount I make ? Is there any relief
for double taxation ? I assume that there will be
differences for 2004 (earnings in US and UK) compared to
2005 (working only in UK).

To make it even harder, I have been working abroad in 2004
and therefore I do not think that I will reach the 183 days
in 2004 in the US...

Please help !!!
Tx,
J.
