As long as the payments are made from the proceeds of your business, you can record them on the Schedule C (And I think this is the critical factor, in any event). Setting up a separate company for her would be a needless complication, IMO. | I have trucks I use for doing moving jobs and clean outs for people. Because I didn't have good credit the trucks were purchased under my wife's name. If I file Schedule C can I deduct the payments my wife makes on my schedule C? I've gotten mixed views on this. Could I make payments to her for leasing it and would she then file a schedule C and show the lease payments as income and deducts on her schedule C or would I be needing to make a partnership? Or could we put all the business in her name but would that make me an employee. Confused. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
