Late filing and late payment penalties are based on tax due> timely file? (All tax due was paid by April 15.) on 4/15, so if you did not have any tax due, you are okay. If affirmative, would the fact that I filed a Form 4868 help me - like Should I mail the missing page to the IRS now with an explanation? The most the IRS could say was that you filed late, and the> package and paying all tax due, I discovered that I had left > the signature page (page 2 of F1040) in my scanner so it did > not get mailed with the rest of the return. > As yet, I have not heard anything from the IRS. > If I do nothing, can the IRS accuse me of not properly or > timely filing? | A few days after timely filing my completed 2003 Form 1040 package and paying all tax due, I discovered that I had left the signature page (page 2 of F1040) in my scanner so it did not get mailed with the rest of the return. As yet, I have not heard anything from the IRS. If I do nothing, can the IRS accuse me of not properly or timely filing? And if they should, would there be any penalty, since my tax was paid in full? Should I mail the missing page or the whole return with an explanatory note? File a 1040X with the missing page attached? Will greatly appreciate any suggestions.
