Hmmmm. We started e-filing in 1999 and have *always* sent
them in. Guess I need to inform the boss that **I** learned
something even if he didn't. <G

Well, yes; new since about... year 2000 (?), maybe year
before in the last century.

Carol, about 4 years ago, no W-2s had to be mailed in.

Is this new? We have always sent the federal copy of the W2
with the 8453.

The thing is, I don't want to be a file cabinet for the IRS.
In my opinion, it violates my duties to my clients.

Default ERO'S - Do Not Attach Unnecessary Forms

This is a reminder to Electronic Return Originators that
Form 8453, U.S. Individual Income Tax Declaration for an IRS
e-file Return, mailed to Internal Revenue Service should not
include unnecessary attachments. Forms that may be attached
to tax year 2003 Form 8453 include Form 3115, Form 3468,
Form 5713, Form 8283, Form 8332 and Form 8885. Retain Forms
W-2 for your records; do not send them to Internal Revenue
Service with Form 8453. An Authorized IRS e-file Provider
must mail completed Forms 8453 within three business days
after receipt of the acknowledgement file.

This has been an IRS e-file QuickAlert
