It appears on the W-2's of National Guard and other
reservists. It is the portion of the pay that represents
active duty pay. (In our state, active duty pay is a
subtraction from income, the "one weekend a month" part of
the income is not.) Most I have seen in the past have Code
W for the "two weeks a year" that the Guardsmen and
reservists do every year. However, we have seen a lot of
them this year with larger amounts because so many of them
have been called up for active duty.

I don't think I've ever seen that one in writing anywhere.
We found out when someone in the office called the local
Guard paymaster to find out what it was about.

Client should have a December LES (leave and earnings
statement (the old pink form)) which is really a year end
pay stub and that W amount should reconcile to it.
