But the transcripts do not include the state withholding
information. Try your employer first!

Your local IRS walk-in office can print them directly from
the IRS information returns database. IRS does not charge
for providing copies of past year's Forms W-2. IRS
maintains six years of information returns, i.e. Forms W-2,
1099, etc. at any given time. Years currently available are
1997 - 2002. This summer in July, IRS will purge 1997 data
and begin adding 2003 information returns. Forms W-2 from
the IRS information returns database do not include any
state wage or withholding data.

Also, the IRS has a new Form 4506-T that can be used to
request transcripts of W-2 forms.

Probably not the past couple years, though. IIRC correctly,
they (SSA) don't expect records to be complete less than 18
months from the end of the year.

Social security admin. There is a cost involved, but you
can go back 50 or so years. I don't remember the form
number, but dig around ssa.gov.
