Perhaps he paid no personal tax prep fees, or he chose not to deduct them, or his preparer missed them. Or maybe he lost his receipt. I've always left some on Sch A because even without the activities on Schedules C & E the client still would have to get his/her tax return done. I'm surprised to see the Cheneys' preparers take such an agresive stance since they would have to know that his return would become public. Why would there be for GWB?> > Find what is missing from Schedule A and where it went! > At a quick glance, I see no state, local or real estate tax > deductions. But I don't know where they went! He lives in TX, so no state income tax. He lives in public housing in DC, so no real estate tax there. It wouldn't surprise me that during a presidency, his private residence in TX gets classified as either "government property" (so no property tax) or that the U.S. government is required to pick up the bill for maintaining his residence while in office (as part of the WH budget), so he didn't pay the tax; we did. As long as we're talking about the highest office, anyone else catch the article in "Tax Practice" (or any other Tax Analysts' publication) about Kerry's ~$12K error on the sale of artwork? Didn't Kerry write the section about COLLECTIBLES remaining at 28% rate? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
