Hasn't the Treasury continued to postpone the date after
which educational institutions must provide COMPLETE numeric
data? Right now I think they are only required to confirm
enrollment and status.

I have seen too many 1099-Ts that were blank or had zeros.
And they were from schools that I know are not free nor give
huge scholarships. I guess if you work for the government
you do not have to follow the government rules.

That's what I've seen.

None of that around here.

I'm still waiting for a 1098-T to come vaguely close to what
the taxpayer's records show. If IRS ever starts using the
1098-T data in underreporter, it's going to be a huge mess.

Default 1098-T

My view is that box 4 should show the total of all
scholarships or grants administered and processed by the
eligible educational institution. However, educational
institutions {e.g., ucla} seem to report only the portion of
scholarships and grants considered to be taxable income (i.
e., they exclude the box 1 amount or say they do) to the
student.

I'm interested in other's experience with this issue?
