You didn't give your filing status or the amount of your
itemized deductions, so we can only offer some guesses about
what is happening.

Are your total itemized deductions more than the standard
deduction? If not, TurboTax will automatically use the
standard deduction, even though you entered itemized
deductions. What amount is on line 37 of Form 1040: your
total itemized deductions or the standard deduction? If it's
the standard deduction, then you do not file Schedule A.

Did you accidentally tell TurboTax to use the standard
deduction even if it is less than your itemized deductions?
You may have done this without realizing it in response to a
question in the interview. Look at the third checkbox in
Part V of the Federal Information Worksheet, and uncheck it
if necessary.

If you WANT to, or are required to, itemize even though your
itemized deductions are less than the standard deduction,
then you should check either the first or second box in Part
V of the Federal Information Worksheet, as appropriate.

Do your itemized deductions exceed your standard deduction?

All itemized deduction go on Schedule A. Turbo Tax, I would
think, provides for this. You must be looking at something
incorrectly. Review the program and the manual. Good luck!

In TT you can alternate between the "Interview" mode and
"Form" mode. Schedule A will only be filled out and printed
if you specify any deduction during Interview mode, if I
understand your question. Schedule A is in all versions of
TT.

If on the other hand, you are refering to some missing
deduction or worksheet in TT (rare), you can always modify
the specific line of a form in Form mode. This is a little
dangerous, because the changes do not propagate back to the
Interview mode. So you change anything back in the
Interview mode you have to specifically re-enter Form mode
changes in addition (write them all down). People buy TT for
the Interview mode because it is a lot more clear than
filling out the forms directly. In some past years I have
had to enter some numbers directly on forms like the 2210AI,
but the Interview mode gets more comprehensive each year.

(1) Are your total itemized deductions less than your
standard deduction? If so, I'd would expect TT
to omit Sched A by default.
(2) If (1) is true and you are going to itemize anyways,
did you check the box that TT must have somewhere
which says you want to itemize even though your
itemizations are less than the standard deduction?

Look to see whether your standard deduction is more than
your itemized.

That's possible if your "itemized" deductions don't add up
to as much as the standard deduction.

Default Schedule A

Turbo Tax does not have schedule A shown as a schedule that
I need to file even though I am itemizing my deductions.
Can this be correct?

Thanks, Fred S.
