Page 2 of schedule D has the references to where things go
on the 1040 as you go through the various Parts
computations.

Default Schedule D: What do I fill in for Form 1040, Line 13?

I have to fill out Schedule D but don't see how the
information on Schedule D translates to Form 1040.

The instructions for Form 1040 tell you what to fill in for
Lines 13 and 13A if you DON'T have to fill out Schedule D,
but the instructions don't say what to fill in for Lines 13
and 13A if you ARE filling out Schedule D.

What do I put in Line 13? The amount from my 1099-DIV box
2a? Something else? What about Line 13A?

Thanks!
