Don't even THINK about it. EAch year stands (or falls) on it's own.

No. (Well, you could just continue to not claim it :-)

No unless you consider forgetting it altogether an option.

Having to explain "fudged" dates is not the sharpest move at
an audit.

The same exact $ amount deduction can/will have two
different end results in two different years.

Not really. Don't forget the 8283 if required. It's not
necessary to copy the 8283s already filed, but if it WASN'T
required, and IS NOW required, you need to file the whole
thing.

Default Forgot to claim deductible donation in 2002... Now what?

While going through my "shoebox" for 2003, I found a receipt
for a large non-cash donation in 2002 which I forgot to
claim. I guess the receipt had accidentally stuck to the
bottom :-[

Do I have any options now other than amending my 2002
return? Can I just claim this in 2003, but use the correct
2002 date when listing the donation in Form 8283?

Should I fudge the date to 2003... And then if I get
audited, show the IRS my 2002 return where I forgot to claim
it?

Thanks!

(please reply to the group... I don't check my e-mail very often)
