I don't have TT so I don't know what Q's it will ask about the 1099misc. This article says it goes on line 7. http://www.turbotax.com/articles/Emp...hasePlans.html This article says it must be reported as wages, aka line 7. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p525.pdf << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I` am using Turbotax for doing my taxes. I have stocks from my ex-employer which I received through the ESPP program. I sold these last year and received the 1099-MISC form from them. There is no W-2 since I was not employed with them through the whole year of 2002. When I entered the data in Turbotax, I notice that I am being taxed twice on the same amount from the 1099MISC - the second time from the ESPP portion of the Turbotax interview where I said NO to the question about whether the amount was reported in my W2. My questions are 1. Can I say yes to that question since the 1099MISC is being taxed as regular wages? 2. By including the 1099MISC, I am also paying the SS and medicare - should I be paying this from ESPP sales? 3. Is the 1099MISC the same as the W2 for employees who do not receive any W2? Please note that I am unemployed not a contractor. Thanks.
