It is indeed a separate business. use schedule c and> hairdressing there in the evenings on weekdays and on > Saturdays. > How should I report this income? I am having a hard time > finding the appropriate category in Turbo Tax. This is not > reported as a Business, right? report her gross income, and by GROSS I mean TOTAL income on line 1 then she can deduct her supplies and her booth rental that she paid to the beauty shop owner. IF however, the beauty shop has issued her a 1099-misc for her net (gross minus the booth rental) then use that figure on line 1. Yes it is a business, use Schedule C and SE, if necessary.> hairdressing there in the evenings on weekdays and on > Saturdays. > How should I report this income? Yes, it is reported as a business. The income she receives> finding the appropriate category in Turbo Tax. This is not > reported as a Business, right? is just that--income. Her chair rental can be classified as either rent or commissions (depending on whether she pays a flat fee for the chair rental or if she pays a commission based on what she earns). Be sure to deduct any supplies, products, etc. that she purchases for use. If she pays a shampoo gal, don't forget that as well. | My wife rents a chair at a Beauty Parlor and does hairdressing there in the evenings on weekdays and on Saturdays. How should I report this income? I am having a hard time finding the appropriate category in Turbo Tax. This is not reported as a Business, right? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
