Form 1040NR is due on April 15 for a nonresident alien (NRA)
who maintains his or her tax home in the U.S. The
unextended due date is June 15 for a NRA who lives abroad.
Either due date can extended to Monday, August 16, 2004
(because August 15 falls on a Sunday this year), by
requesting an automatic extension with Form 4868.

A return that is postmarked by the regular or extended due
date, including foreign postmarks, is considered timely
filed no matter when received by IRS.

Postmark date, if mailed in the US. I don't know if foreign
postmark-date-equaivalents count.

If you're living oversease, you may have an automatic
2 month extension for Federal tax forms.

Default *Alien Individual Tax Return Deadline*

Since the deadline for submition of form 1040nr and other
sate forms is 15 April 2004, which of the dates conts for
this - the date one sends the forms or the date they are
received at IRS Philadelphia. Is there any chance of
submitting the documents after the term expires due to
various reasons as living abroad, late W2 forms etc?

Thank you
