How could it trigger AMT ? Have you looked at the Form 6251 that TT generates? What did it add back into your income? Remember that state income tax, property tax, and even personal exemptions are disallowed under the AMT. And did you have a lot of gross income? High gross income both phases out the AMT exemption and is taxed at 26% or 28% under the AMT, both brackets being higher than the big 25% bracket under the regular tax. That's another typical AMT cause. - quote - > P.S. I have some mortgage interest and property Tax
The property tax deduction certainly could matter, since> deduction. but I can not see how that relats to AMT. property tax isn't deductible under the AMT. -- Rich Carreiro rlcarr[at]animato.arlington.ma.us << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

I have no other investment related transaction. The stock was bought at below market price due to discount and held so far. I looked at the W-2 form and do not think it is reported anywhere. I have some mortgage interest and property Tax deduction. but I can not see how that relats to AMT. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
