I think but I know you don't get the EIC by filing this way.

Possibly. See the requirements for dependents in IRS
Publication 501.

The person claiming the child's dependency exemption can
also claim the child tax credit for that child.

A few points, since it's rare that MFS is an advantageous
filing status:

1. If you received an advance child tax credit payment last
summer based on a 2002 joint return, half of it is
attributable to each of you on your 2003 return.

2. You both must use the same method of calculating
deductions: itemized or standard.

Default A straightforward question

My wife and I decided to file my returns this year
seperately. Can we both claim our two children as
dependents? Or one for each of us? Similarly, can we both
claim Child Tax Credit? Thanks lot for inputs.
