Do you mean TAXwise?> clear on how to do it with TasWise software. Anyway, I find it hard to figure someone a part year resident of three states. Did he actually establish residency in each state in turn? By that I mean do the usual things like registering car, drivers license, register to vote, buy property, etc etc. all those affirmative actions? Probably not. Which might mean he could be a non resident in one or two cases, no? I don't know if TaxWise will do three state returns with one> clear on how to do it with TasWise software. Federal or not. You can tell from the state section on the Main Information screen. I know you can do two part-year resident state returns; check that section to see if it will let you do three. If the software won't do three states, you'll need to do two linked to the Federal and a stand alone paper return for the third state. After you've finished the Federal, adjust the numbers on the multi-state worksheet as needed. Then you can deal with any unfinished items on each state's return.
