Must be the version of netscape then. I've always used
Netscape and always had capability to specify how many days
to retain messages. Perhaps your version (version 1.1??!)
just doesn't have "retain" turned on? (If that's possible)

Actually I'm using Mozilla 1.5 now, but it's still Netscape
as you probably know.

It depends on the browser. THIS version of Netscape doesn't
make local copies of the messages.

Here's another tip. Set your browser to retain newsgroup
messages up to maybe 30 days. It's not your ISP's fault.

Free advice. No charge.

Thanks to all who replied concerning differences between why
W2 and 1099s are different in terms of their having (or not)
to be sent into the IRS on your return! My ISP rolled the
thread, so I can't post directly on to it now, but I did
read all the replies on the Google archives. So thanks to
Harlon, Arthur, Gene, and others for their comments.
