Oklahoma allows a deduction for the liability shown on the
federal return (without regard to it having been paid) for
Method 2 tax. (It's the only adjustment for Method 2, which
uses a separate set of tax tables, sort of the like the
state version of AMT.)

I'm pretty sure Iowa and Alabama both do. I've heard
Colorado did at one time, but I think that's changed.

Just for my own information, what states, if any, allow for
a federal tax deduction?

YOu don't. Pure and simple. Each year stands alone,
unless.... you overpaid one year and let them keep it for
the following year.

Federal taxes paid for a previous year don't need to be
reported at all. Only withholding for the current year
affects how much you owe now.

This shouldn't affect your 2003 Federal return at all; if
your state lets you deduct your Federal taxes, you should be
able to deduct the additional amount paid in 2003 on your
2003 state return.

There's nothing to report on your Federal return. If your
state allows a deduction for Federal tax paid, check the
instructions.

Default How to reflect the tax assessed by IRS for 2001 into 2003 return?

IRS changed my 2001 tax return last year and asked me to pay
extra amount. I paid the assesment in full (including the
interest) in 2003. Just wonder if anyone knows how to
reflect this amount in 2003 tax return? Any help would be
highly appreciated.
