Assuming it was declared as income in 2002, see IRS Pub 525
starting on page 30 in the middle column where it says
"Repayment - Over $3000. She can take a deduction if she
itemizes or she can compute a credit: her choice.

Default Repayment of Leave Benefits

My wife retired in 2002.

In 2003, her employer said she had taken too much annual or
sick leave and that she needed to repay them for that leave.

She paid them back about $3000.

How do I account for that on our tax return?
