It depends on the type of preferred stock. Some are treated
as nonqualified (akin to interest) and some as qualified
dividends. The corporation should tell you.

Do divdends on hybrid securities (e.g. Preferred stocks)
qualify for Bush's lower dividend tax rate, or does the IRS
consider them more akin to interest, taxable at the regular
marginal rate?
