Is there a way to do this? it as a scam. It would be treated as if they were paying you and you were making the donations. But if it's just a suggestion that you make to them (kind of like people who make similar requests in lieu of wedding/birthday gifts), it seems like it would be OK. | I've been doing web sites for non-profits for free for a few years. now, I'm begining to get requests from businesses. I'm really not up for starting a business yet, but I'd like to do the work. Instead of the business owner paying me for a web site, can I have her donate the amount to a charity? That would clear me of any tax liability, but would it mess up her taxes? Is there a way to do this? Thanks, Lisa << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
