The other possibility is that the do know, but are just
trying to get you to buy the most expensive product :-)
They should still be embarrassed.

If I was Intuit, I would be embarrassed. If the software
manufacturer can't tell you which version to buy, how can a
person make the appropriate purchase.

Thank you all for your input.

You are right; the Intuit support person was wrong (not just
uneconomical). Any of the personal TruboTax versions will
handle the K-1 that your friend received: Basic, Deluxe, or
Premier.

TaxCut Standard will handle the K-1. I would use it rather
than TT; although TT will handle it also.

Any version of either product you purchase will allow you to
enter K-1 information.

Default Which version of TT or Taxcut , for K-1 from Investment Club

I am trying to assist a friend with her taxes and we are
trying to determine which version of TurboTax or Taxcut she
should use. This year she has received a K-1 from an
investment club and was unsure which software (& version) to
use.

I chatted with Intuit on line, but they told me to buy TT
Business, which I believe is for the Partnership
administrator, not the recipients of the K-1's. I am not
sure that their recommendation is the most economical.

Can anyone recommend the right version of TT and/or Taxcut?

Thanks.
