Since you are in Atlanta, if I were you - I'd go to the
local IRS office and hand carry the extensions in, ask to
see the Group Manager, explain the situation, and get them
time/date stamped.

Default Extensions Returned by IRS

Asking what you would do in this situation?

1) On 2/12/04, filed second extensions for nonprofits with
FY 6/30/03 year-ends. They were (as always) mailed certified
mail with the USPS.

2) Today I received the envelope back-"Refused by
Addressee". The admin person in charge of mail had added a
return receipt to the envelope but didnt put the additional
$1.75 postage.

As I see it, my options are to either ignore the returned
mail (after all, I have my return receipt from the USPS as
proof of mailing) or to remail the requests now to the IRS
with an explanatory letter.

Thanks for your input.
