Several times I've shown clients the calculation on form 8880 which illustrate how their IRA contribution will be subsidized by Uncle Sam by 10 - 50%, and they're so impressed, they decide to use their big old tax refund to actually fund the IRA before 4/15. The RIC is one of the best things since sliced bread; the other being the Roth IRA.
