Unless you're an accrual-basis taxpayer, there's no
deduction. You didn't pay tax on it.

You don't claim the income, which covers your loss.

It can't. Since you never got the money (and were thus
never taxed on the money you never got) there is no
deduction. Allowing a deduction would be double-dipping
and so it's not allowed.

No. If you were self-employed, you can deduct expenses. If
you were an employee, you may be able to report the employer
for NOT paying employment taxes on your behalf.

First the good news! You have no income to report on your
tax return(s).

Now the bad news. You also have no loss deduction.

Default Tax Question

I was employed by a company in 2003 who did not pay me. Can
this loss be deducted and if so how?
