In a $50 table bracket, 2 of every 50 times you could expect
to see that $1 puch you to another bracket.

Why put in $1 and worry?

As long as the IRS sets an efiling standard that says they
want to see only W-2 forms that have $1 or more in box 1, I
assume they don't ewant to see those with 0 in box 1.

An ERO has to transmit an accurate W-2 and we can ask is it
more accurate to add $1 to box 1 or to not file a zero W-2
which Pub 1435A says you cannot file anyway?

Haven't had one yet. If it does, reduce one of the others by
a buck. Remember every thing is rounded. Heck on a long
1099B because of rounding you can be "off" a little.

And the extra dollar never pushed one into a higher tax
bracket? It could, you know.

To e-file, just put $1 in box 1 and the J in 12a. You may
have to answer a question about being exempt from
SSA/medicare. Been doing these type of w-2's this way for
about 8 years and no problems.

therefore you may safely omit it from data entry.

That's why you don't tell TT about it. What it doesn't know
won't hurt you.

Default No wages reported in W2

I have a W2 from my disability insurance provider. It has no
wages reported in Box 1. The only box it has is in 12. The
letter code that came along with it says, the wages reported
is not taxable.

Since I don't have anything to report from this W2, should I
still send it to IRS when I file the tax.

The problem is TurboTax won't allow me to do efile if I have
this W2 with empty Box 1. (no wages to report).

Thanks.
