Must admit, not to me either. WE don't have many of those
down this way. In fact the usual defintion of an alien is
something from outer space; or maybe a yankee.

In light of what I have mentioned, am I considered a
resident alien even if I do NOT have a green card yet? The
definition of a "resident alien" is not clear to me.

Thanks.

If you are a resident alien, the W9 form IS the one to use.

Default Forms W-9 AND W-8

I am not a U.S. person, although I have a case in
immigration court and a Work Authorization. I did some
freelance work for an American company and they sent me form
W-9. They do not know exactly what my status is and I know
they should've sent me one of the W-8 forms (possibly BEN?)
which I know I can download from the internet and send back
to them. But my question is: what if I do not feel
comfortable sending my SSN to these people? Do I have to
fill out the form and send it or do I have another choice?

Thank you in advance.
