need to have the other parent sign form 8332, which you file
with your tax return

Default Help! Can I claim daughter that I more than 1/2 support but is not in my custody?

My daughter was temporarily not in my custody/or the
father's custody for the tax year of 2003. However, I was
court ordered to pay child support to the guardians
(paternal aunt & uncle of child) of $173/wk and the father
having to pay $133/wk. We were told by courts that they do
not consider guardian's income when figuring child support
payments. Because I provided more than half of her support
all year can I claim her as my dependent? If anyone knows
this or has any idea I would sincerely appreciate some
guidance.
