As I recall, only estimated tax payments or "backup> plan was to distribute both the income and credit the > withholding to the beneficiaries, but now that I am working > on my k-1s, it appears that only estimated tax payments can > be credited. Is my understanding correct, or can > withholding be considered equivalent to estimated tax > payments in this case? withholding" can be allocated to the beneficiaries. Otherwise, the estate must seek the refund. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries have to pay their share. Bummer. | I had federal taxes withheld from income to an estate. My plan was to distribute both the income and credit the withholding to the beneficiaries, but now that I am working on my k-1s, it appears that only estimated tax payments can be credited. Is my understanding correct, or can withholding be considered equivalent to estimated tax payments in this case? << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
