I disagree; it was caused by poor programming. I use
ZoneAlarm and McAfee on each of my machines plus a router
between my network and the cable modem. These cause no
problems for 99% of the software I use, including non-Intuit
tax software. Yet, Intuit tech support claims people have to
bypass their firewalls and routers to get program updates
and such for QB and TT. This is not necessary, just
inconsiderate programming.

Considering the solution, I suspect this was cause by a
software firewall such as Norton, Kerio, ZoneAlarm, Sygate,
BlackIce, WyvernWorks, McAfee, etc.

And why would anyone want to jump through all these hoops
just to use TT? If Intuit can't design a program that works
with a computer set up in a normal and rational manner, then
I suggest you try another program.

Default Turbotax--Connection With the Server was Reset

FYI, If you have been pulling out your hair with the damned,
repeated Server Reset error message while actually trying to
file electronically from TT 2003, here's the trick: (No.
Their servers really AREN'T that busy.)

A) Do NOT waste your time with their chat help. You'll get
better tech support from your cat.

B) (I should point out that I did a combo of things and I
really don't care which one did the trick so I'm going to
spell them all out. You could feel free to try one at a
time or touch em all.)

B1) In your internet options: (From IE: Tools--> Internet
Options--> Security Tab) Swing your "Internet" tab down to
Low. Hit [OK] on the warning message because you'll change
it right back after. (I also swung the cookie control under
"Privacy" down to low, but I think that's inconsequential.)

B2) I also cleared Temp files, cookies, and history; and
under the "Content" tab clicked "Clear SSL State"

B3) I actually booted into Safe Mode with Networking (Hit
[F8] as you boot and select from menu.) to make sure there
wasn't some weird driver synergy effecting me.

Bam. After 4 days of getting the damn server reset error
over and over, and one LONG wait for a worthless chat
session, our taxes filed in about 4 seconds.

Don't forget to IMMEDIATELY put everything back where you
had it.

Good luck!
