Well now.... if you have no official office from which to
travel, or to which to return, then how can you deduct the
mileage? Seems that IRS and the state would claim your
prinmary place of business varies with the client.

Where is his primary place of business? Is it his home? I
don't claim office in the home because I am not willing to
meet the "exclusively" rule but I have no other place of
business. When I go to see a client (yes, I make house
calls), I claim the mileage. I have no commuting because I
have no other office.

Phil, the wait is over--there is no reference.

Default mileage claim: special rule for employees on commission?

client wants to claim mileage to work on a 2106--does not
qualify for office in home and is not a statutory employee.
An accountant friend told him he could claim his commuting
miles because he is on 100% commission and receives no
salary. I'm waiting on the accountant providing a reference
but thought I'd throw this out to the group.
