Not for the one time offender! :-)

How about long-haul drivers (truckers)? ;-)

Doubt it, since attendance at traffic school couldnt be
considered more than half time.

Clarification: In California, if you go to traffic school
for a ticket, you pay the fine plus $48(?) to the city,
and an additional fee to the school. The ticket is
still on your record, but sealed.

In some cases it also technically REDUCES your insurance
rates, as it counts as a "Safe Driving class". (I've
never tried that, but you CAN go to traffic school
without a ticket to be sealed, so I suppose insurance
doesn't need to know why you went?!)

If the OP is referring to the fees paid to the school,
I dunno.

Depends, is it work related? If not, I seriously doubt you
can make it meet the requirements of the education credits
or tuition and fees deductions.

If by "traffic school" you are referring to an approved
class you attend in order to have a traffic infraction
expunged from your driving record, then there is no
deduction.

deductible as what? Since you were probably required to
enroll, as a condition of your traffic fine, this is not an
educational expense. Fines are not deductible.

WITHOUT RESEARCHING the issue -- I suppose it could be a
business educational expense (the part that goes to the
school itself, not the part to the State or County.)

If it's to get out of a traffic ticket, I doubt it - the
rule denying a deduction for fines and penalties would
apply.

I haven't thought about whether any of the recently new
education credits could be applied to it!

I can't imagine why it would be deductible either.

For it to be deductible as a business expense, it has to be
an "ordinary and necessary" expense for that business.
Costs incured to learn a new trade (truck driving school)
would not be deductible either.

Otherwise, I think you can't claim it.

No. Neither would be the fine you would have had to pay if
you hadn't gone to traffic school.

If you had to attend traffic school as part of a sentence
for a traffic violation, no, it is not deductible.

Default Is Traffic School Tax Deductible?

Is the cost of traffic school tax deductible? I can't find
anything that references it. I doubt it is, but I thought
it was worth a check. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
David
