Well now, I didn't know that. Of course we had already
efiled her return before she got the offending W2.

That requirement makes about as much sense as the one that
decrees if block 2 is more than 50% of block 1, you can't
efile.

Just change box 1 to $1. Won't do anything to return and
e-file. Been doing it for years this way.

Those are those dumb Box 12-J only W-2s -- no entries in any
box except Box 12 coded as J and showing sick pay not
included in box 1.

If box 1 is zero you can't e-file.

I interpret that as meaning the IRS doesn't want to see such
W-2s.

After having filed her tax return, a client called me
hysterically, saying she had just gotten a W-2 for
disability and she also thought it wasn't taxable since she
had paid premiums. So she dropped in in my door slot, and
she called later. i told her then that there was nothing
atall in block 1, meaning they sent W-2's to everybody, but
to those for whom it didn't apply block 1 (taxable) was
simply blank.

Look at yours again.

Sometimes, your first employer paid disability is paid out
before your long term employee paid plan kicks in. Make
sure that isn't happening. You have the right to call the
insurance company also.

My guess is that someone made a mistake, and you should get
it straightened out quickly.

As far as I know, if you paid for the disability policy
yourself, you should not even be getting a W2. The mistake
is likely at the level of the insurance company.

Default w-2 question on Long term disability

I have a question about my w-2 from my long term disabiility
insurer... It was an Ersia plan, I paid the premium with
after tax funds from payroll check... The w-2 for the
benefits from said policy show wages and tips just like any
other... (there is also a box 14 that says 100%) I thought
since I paid with aftrer tax money it was tax free benefits
and the w-2 should show that?
