If it were her principal residence, no.
If not, get professional help.

If the home was her principal residence for 2 of the last 5
years before selling, she has nothing to report -- unless
she made a net *profit* of $250,000 ($500,000 MFJ). If she
did, congratulations to her, and she should be able to
afford some professional assistance.

If, as I suspect, her profit was more modest than the limits
cited, she can ignore the matter and does not have anything
to fill out or file.

Maybe. See Publication 523.

Default A Tax Question (newbie)

My friend wanted me to ask this in this group before she
files her taxes. She does not have access to this NG. Okay
her it is:

She sold her manufactured mobile home in December 2003. In
July 2003, she purchased a manufactured mobile home for more
money. She wants to know if she has to claim on the sell of
her old home and if there are any forms or publications she
needs to fill out.
