You will have to do some research as to the mechanics of doing this, as I'm not that familiar with those 2 states. -- <<< Benjamin Yazersky CPA [NJ & NY] > > << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| I have a unique situation. My wife and I got married last year but still live in 2 different states. I live and work in MD and she lives and works in PA. We see each other on the weekends. Is it possible to 1) File federal taxes as Married Filing Jointly 2) Have me file in MD as Married Filing Separately 3) Have her file in PA as Married Filing Separately I thought we could do this, but the MD return asks for the AGI from your federal return, which would be our combined income, so I didn't know if you have to use the same Filing status for States that you do for Federal. Thanks in Advance!
