Assuming you retained your Green Card, you must file your
tax returns as though you were still in the U.S. The
Internal Revenue Code applies to ALL U.S. citizens and
permanent residents. As long as you retain your Green Card,
you are considered a permanent resident.

On the other hand, if you surrendered the Green Card, you
are only subject to U.S. taxes for the period you were
resident.

Assuming you retained the Green Card, you must report all
income, including any interest and dividends. You do not
provide enough information to determine if you are eligible
for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion but, if you do, you
need to complete Form 2555.

Default Q: Is non-US citizen with Green Card still required to fill out Foreign Earned Income Exclusion Form 2555 for FE income?

I found lots of replies on USENET about a US citizens
obligation to declare foreign earned income but i'm not sure
what my situation is as I am a UK citizen...

I worked in the US for almost 5 years gaining a Green Card
in that time. I decided to move back to the UK permanently
on 28th Feb 2003 and I started work in the UK. I am now
filling out my tax form and I am wondering what I should
claim for foreign earned income. Do I have to declare my
foreign income/bank accounts and then claim exemption using
the Form 2555 (FEIE) or is there another course of action I
should be taking?

thanks .jim.
