Real world observations:

1) You ignored the problem and it didn't go away.
2) You blame the elected official for what you perceive
as unjust even though you can provide no evidence to
support your position.
3) You didn't keep your copies of the returns in
question for at least three years as required.

Real world solution:

1) Either dig up the returns if you can or
2) Hire someone to recreate them or
3) Find the cancelled checks to show you paid
any balance due.

1. NJ permits wages to be garnished.

2. If you live in NJ and work in NY you still pay NY.

Default NYS Tax Audit dilemmas

Hi, I have a lot of NYS tax problems. NYS sent me a claim
that I did not pay my 2001 State taxes, but I did. I still
have the W4 claims but I could not find my Resident Income
Tax forms. They claim I owe $4000

So I sent them a letter and told them I did pay but U do not
have a copy of my taxes then I ignored them for 6 month.
Now I get another one from NYS claiming that I did not pay
2002.

A total now of over $8k

I'm thinking all this tax problem is pushing me out of the
state, I am thinking of just leaving NYS altogether as
Bloomberg and Pataki is pissing me off with their tax audits
and rising taxes.

I work in New Jersey so they probably cannot garnish my
wages, should I just leave NYS and move to NJ or figure out
something with NYS Taxes?

Give me the best real world answers, please.

Thank you.
