Default Roth IRA Withdrawals

I am planning on purchasing my first home in about 5-6 years
(hopefully). I am interested in setting up a ROTH IRA to
assist in saving for a down payment. I plan on setting up a
Roth IRA in January 2004 for the 2003 tax year (in
accordance with IRS Pub 590).

My question is when can I withdraw my contributions and
earnings for a first time home buyer? Would it be Jan. 1,
2008 (5 tax years after Jan 1, 2003) or Jan 1, 2009 (5 tax
years after the first contribution)?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and I
greatly appreciate any insight you can provide.

Happy holidays!
Tim
