You can demand what you want, but don't have a heart attack
if you don't get it. Frankly, I don't see the point to a
corrected paystub. The big issue is your W-2.

When you get your W-2, check it carefully to make sure it's
right. If it's not, THAT's the document you want to get
corrected, and your payroll channels are the only way.

In a worst-case scenario, we'll fast forward to April 14,
and you haven't been able to get a corrected W-2. File your
return using the correct numbers and explain it to the IRS
in an attachment. The paystubs showing where the error
happened should be enough proof.

Default Employer overstated my earnings.

I worked for company "A". I participated in the companies
ESPP and came out with a 2,000.00 gain. Since the sale was
short term, I was taxed on my paycheck as ordinary income on
the entire 2,000.00. The company was sold. Payroll transfer
, etc. I get my final paystub and they added a new category
for this ESPP earnings. They added a total of 4,000.00 to my
total earnings instead of the 2,000.00 they should have. So
of course I called payroll. No answer yet. What happens in
this case?. there are no more checks for the year so I have
no way of knowing a correction was made unless I get a
corrected paystub. What are my rights?, is my company
liable?. If not corrected I would be paying tax on 2000.00 I
never earned. They errantly doubled the amount of my ESPP
earnings and added it to total earnings. Should I be doing
anything more than bothering the payroll dept? I think I
deserve a corrected paystub?, can I demand this?

Any thoughts appreciated -

thanks -
