As for me: I have a couple of friends who have had the surgery and swear by it. My Optometrist buddy from college warned us off of the scalpel type RK of years past, telling us to wait for the laser version and see how that develops. He now says it is fine. But, at our recent reunion, we were all at the age where we are holding papers out at arms length or taking off our distance glasses so we can read. I have not yet gone for bifocals, but my two older siblings have, as have a couple of buddies my age. I tried on a pair and cringed. That will probably change in another couple of years. But, with regard to lasik surgery, if you have presbyopia (sp?), and get lasik surgery to cure your distance vision, you might then need reading glasses. So, I am again holding off on the advise of my Optometrist buddy (and some technical articles I have read) to see when the next research turns to reality (and somebody else serves as guinea pig), so I can cure distance problems without inflicting myself with the need for reading glasses. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

Surely it can be consdered as a process issue for this group? And it quite important to it.
