You don't have to officially notify "them" you're keeping> of is the confusing part. How do I indicate I am keeping > it?. I had a starting inventory, bought a minimal anount of > stuff (cost of goods). Oh, and do you stamp the return > (sched C) as "FINAL", and how do you surrender your EIN? the inventory. Also no need to mark a schedule C "final". Also no formality about surrendering the EIN. You never did use it for payroll taxes from what you say so they won't notice the difference. "Old EIN's never die, they just fade away." (Hmm, I like that.) I've probably finished buying stamps for this calendar year, and wife is not giving me Scott # 1, so maybe with my huge tax season profits next April I will splurge for it. I am however not sold on buying stamps from EBay. Just had an email from Ebay.com today, saying "as a service to you", they wanted to update my profile. The url looked real enough, but I've heard otherwise. Besides, I've never used Ebay. just browsed. Maybe..the inventory on page you speak of is the confusing part. How do I indicate I am keeping it?. I had a starting inventory, bought a minimal anount of stuff (cost of goods). Oh, and do you stamp the return (sched C) as "FINAL", and how do you surrender your EIN? 3. Buy the Nickle - check out Ebay, I might even do it. Worst is you'll see FMV. Condition.. is the condition of the coin important to you?.. that's a big deal. Are there any coin shows in the area? (always a good place for bargains). I say buy it already because these are becomming collctible again, and you might just watch the thing go up and up as you wait, Buy it and your done, you have it. - thanks !! << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

As for how to turn in a NY state sales tax #, contact the local state sales tax office or maybe hit their web site. For a business with employees it's usually more complicated, so thank your lucky stars. BTW, do you have an extra US Scott # 1 at a good price? | I have a small side stamp/coin business for around 10 yrs. I would like to close it. I.E. go out of business and be done with it. I have been filing Schedule "C" for the time I have participated in this business. I have around 5,000.00 in inventory that I would be keeping for myself. This is my cost for the inventory. I would appreciate any advise on how to go about this. Do I just not file Sched "C" anymore? and send back my NYS sales tax certificate with my final sales tax return?. The Business is in NY state and I have a NYS sales tax license. Thanks in advance - Steve << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
