It may be possible for this to qualify as a temporary
assignment, and, as such, the travel, transportation, meals,
lodging and incidential exp. could be deductible as a misc
itemized deduction. The problem would be here, that you
will never recover the 2% AGI hurdle. You might try have
the employer pay the expenses, reimburse under accountible
police or gross up the wages for the amount of lost
deductions. See Publication 463 for details free from the
IRS at www.irs.gov.

Default Employee business expenses

I have a question regarding employee business expenses
deductions. I am moving to California to work on 6 months
contract as computer consultant. Employer will pay me W-2
without reimbursement for any expenses, such as Travel,
lodging, meals, etc. Am I aloud to deduct those expenses? My
family will still leave in NY and I am consider NY my home.
