Thanks to all for the replies! I finally looked at Form 8554
(Duh! Why didn't I think of that?) and more/less did what it
said, sending Form 8822 marked "Enrolled Agent #YYYY-NNNNN"
to the Detroit address.

I guess what threw me was that I couldn't find anything at
the IRS website about this. That, plus the fact that my
state board has a specific form for address changes, so I
must have been expecting something similar.

I haven't changed my CAF address yet because I have a case
in progress (and don't want to introduce any more confusion
than necessary), but will do that soon. I "control" both
addresses, so any mail will get to me in any event.

Thanks again!

That's what I was going to suggest - Form 8822 part II and
sending it to OPR. One should probably write in the
enrollment number in box 11a.

If they get enough of these, they will figure out that they
have a systemic deficiency somewhere..... - and in 10 years,
they will fix it. :-)

Good idea also to change address at CAF which will apply to
all POA's on file. This in addition to OP's question about
notifying DOP of new address.

Don't forget also to call Andover Service center and change
any efiling address of records. I called them on the
phone, told them new address and it applied to both my ERO
and my ET #. Nowdays I notice such a notification will
apply for all service centers where you efile returns.

There is a change of address section on Form 8554. Doen't
that meet the definition of "in writing"?

Instructions for Form 8554 say that you have to do it in
writing, but they don't say how. Try using Form 8822, and
mailing it to the address shown on 8554.

Michael - See form 8554 and instructions. I think that
information will solve your problem.

How about a Letter signed by your self with Old & New
address information, CAF number if you know it.

OR

Fill in the information about yourself in PART 1, Section two,
Sign & Date PART 2

THEN

Fax or Mail to the service centers (OGDEN, MEMPHIS or
PHILADELPHIA) your principal file is located, and if you
have clients associated with the other CAF locations,
include a note to have those files updated also.

Take look at the form 2848 instructions which associate the states & CAF centers.

Mike, I simply wrote a letter to the office in Detroit. If
you can't find the address, I'll look it up at the office
for you on Monday.

Or... is it not on the back of your EA card?

You can email them at opr[at]irs.gov and I would give them the
new address and ask if that is enough or if there is a form.

Default I'm stumped...

How does an EA (I'm one) go about notifying the IRS/Director
of Practice/Professional Responsibility (or whomever) about
a change of address? Is there a special form for this? Where
do you send it, etc.?

Thanks!
