Hey, Al!!!= We've got to look at this ONE MO' TIME!!!=
"The Child Tax Credit" and "The Child Care Tax Credit" are
different creatures. The person who contributed the question
wanted information on "The Child Care Tax Credit" for which
he is likely not eligible unless he were the custodial parent.
Indeed, he likely does qualify for the "Child Tax Credit"!!=

Only if you have physical custody of the child and pay for
child care so you can work, look for work, or be a full time
student.

I would say yes if they meet the other qualifications. You
met 3 in that it is your child, that they are your dependent
and under Age 17 at the end of the year (must be since you
are able to do dependent care which is under age 13). Long
as they are a citizen, you're all set.

The Dependent Care Benefits are taken into account in the
Child Tax Credit Worksheet.

If you do not get the full deduction after going through the
worksheet and figuring the credit, be sure to look at
picking up the balance with the Additional Child Tax credit.

Default Child care tax credit and divorce

Through my divorce decree I am able to claim one of my
children as a dependant. My question is, can I claim the
child care tax credit because I also pay for childcare?
