I passed all four parts in one sitting (3 years after
graduating in 1981 by taking a 90 day CPA review course at
the University that I graduated from. It was exam question
oriented, and forced me to study. Worked for me, YMMV.

I purchased Micromash about a year and a half ago. Waste of
money. Purchased Hoyle CPA review this year, took the exam
in Nov. 2003, was more than prepared. Hoyle CPA review is
the best! www.hoylecpa.com

When I purchased MicroMash for myself for the CPA exam and
for my PYT (Susan) for Part IV of the CIA exam, there was
a pass or refund policy. Fortunately I never had to ask
for a refund.

As I have always told students, it depends on how you
learn. Some people need peer pressure and the leadership
of an instructor as opposed to personal accountabilty.
Nothing derogatory is intended. It is just a matter of
learning styles.

I studied old exams. And passed all but theory on the first
try. I passed that on the second try. At the time I was
not working and had two small children so it was the only
method I could afford. I did make sure that I studied for a
specified time every day without distractions. So my
husband gets a lot of credit for making that possible.

It helps that I "test well" but it was this first and only
time in my life I've had test anxiety. I was on
tranquilizers both times and had to get someone else to
drive me to the test site.

As a mentor reminded me, once you pass, no one ever asks
what your scores were.

Default CPA Exam Review course...least expensive.

What are my options for preparing for the CPA exam? I will
be paying for the review all myself so I need to know what
is the most economical way to do it..

thanks in advance.

The most economical way is to pass all parts on the first
attempt. The most efficient way depends on how you learn.

I have met very few individuals who used either Total Tape
or MicroMash software to prepare for the CPA Exam and did
not pass all parts on the first attempt.
