You have to have a 401(k) plan that expressly allows you to
roll out your accumulated balance periodically. If the
folks setting up your 401(k) don't have a plan that allows
this and you really want to do this, then find someone else
to set up the plan.

Default How to rollover 401(k) plan without closing my company?

I own an S-Corp. I am the only employee of it. I will be
openning the new 401(k) plan allowed by IRS. This plan has
different names depending on financial institution offering
it. It can be Self-Employed 401(k)-Fidelity, Individual
401(k)-TD Waterhouse, or Solo 401(k).

My question is this:
I want to contribute to this plan, and later roll it over to
the Rollover IRA, then Traditional IRA, and finally into
Roth IRA. Can I do that? I was told that I need to terminate
employment in order to do it, but I don't want to terminate
my company. How can I take the money from this 401(k) and
make it travel to Traditional IRA, and later possibly to
Roth IRA?

Thank you for your advice.
