I guess, not. local news server for a specific amount of time. Some hang on to them for a week, some for a month. If you have questions about this, contact your own isp. But don't be discouraged if the tech asks, "what's a newsgroup?" If that happens, ask for a more senior tech. I was able to get one of the replies, but I was hoping that the "misc.taxes.moderated" group might have saved some of the old posts. I guess, not. Your help is greatly appreciated. Checking Google, I found one reply from Arthur Rubin to your> subject "Settlement" (see below). > The next day I went out of town for a few days, and > and unfortunately did not have internet access, there- > fore I missed all the replies. Is there any way I can > get a copy of the replies, or do I need to repost again? post. To read the reply, go the Google Usenet Advanced Search page at the link below: http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search In the first search box labeled, "with all of the words," type in the word "settlement" (without the quotes). Below in the fields for date parameters, set the first date to 31 October 2003. You can let the second date default to the current date. Then click on the "Google Search" button. You should see your post along with 3 or 4 others that contained the word settlement. | On October 31, 2003 I posted a message with the subject "Settlement" (see below). The next day I went out of town for a few days, and unfortunately did not have internet access, therefore I missed all the replies. Is there any way I can get a copy of the replies, or do I need to repost again? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. John J. ================================================ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jannis" <cosjanNOSPAM[at]hotmailNOSPAM.comNewsgroups: misc.taxes.moderated Sent: Friday, October 31, 2003 11:10 AM Subject: Settlement Almost one year ago, I have bought a house in California from a developer, but his general contractor has not finished yet the pick-up work, which is quite extensive. Now the general contractor, probably very busy working on other jobs, has proposed a settlement of about $10,000 for the punch list repairs. If I accept the settlement, is it taxable? Do I have to complete the work hiring other contractor, can I do it myself at my own discretion, or not do it at all if I can live with the way the house is right now. Thank you very much in advance.
